TREATH GLOUCOMA WITH CONTACT LENSES
A study as reported from huffingtonpost.com disclose an invention that is a drug that can be used to treat glaucoma, a disease of the eye.
Interestingly, the drug in the form of a contact lens containing latonoprost. Latonoprost is one treatment for treating glaucoma.
"The lens we developed latonoprost contains high amounts that can be used to treat glaucoma in a short time," explains Daniel Kohane, a professor and director of the Laboratory for Biomaterials and Drug Delivery at Children's Hospital Boston.
The researchers also say that this lens can correct distance weaknesses refer glaucoma patients.
These contact lenses are the first lenses can not treat eye diseases. Previously in 2011, researchers at the University of California have developed a contact lens that can monitor internal eye disorders which became one of the causes of glaucoma.
